McDonald’s Qatar Celebrates the World Children’s
Day
- A humanitarian occasion for children celebrated by McDonald’s
for the 6th year in a row -
Qatar-September- 2007: Celebrating the World Children’s
Day (WCD) in Qatar for the sixth year in a row, McDonald’s
Qatar is launching a humanitarian campaign under the name
“A smile is just a thought away”. A party was
held at the Al Shafallah Center as a celebration to kick-start
this year’s campaign which will run for around two months.
The campaign is aimed at generating funds from the sale of
the WCD drawing sets at all McDonald’s restaurants for
the benefit of The AlShafallah Center for Children with Special
Needs.

Commenting on the launch of the campaign, Kamal Al Mana,
McDonald’s Qatar Managing Director said: “World
Children’s Day is an annual humanitarian occasion of
a great importance to us, due to the benefit it has for our
children in the country. And celebrating this occasion every
year is yet another milestone in our commitment towards our
local community and a continuation to the support we extend
to children’s causes”
And new this year, McDonald’s is giving children a
chance to have their say in a different way. Whereby children
age 6 to 12 can participate in the World Children’s
Day drawing contest to express their care and share a smile
with other children from Al Al Shafallah Centre.
Submitted children drawings will be screened to select the
best ten drawings. And at the end of the campaign, McDonald’s
will be awarding the winners of the drawing contest at a celebration
on November 20th.
“The giving back spirit of this campaign, does not concern
only tangible support, it is more of a morale support especially
coming from children in a unique and different way, understandable
and appreciative by other children” Mr. Kamal added.
McDonald’s is cooperating this year with the leading
children TV channel - MBC3 - to deliver the message of this
campaign across a wider target audience and eventually generate
more funds and attracts more participants in the drawing contest.
