Since July 2011, McDonald’s UAE has significantly reduced its carbon footprint since the launch of its biodiesel initiative. The logistics fleet now runs on fuel made from its used vegetable oil. The biodiesel is converted by the Dubai-based company ‘Neutral Fuels’, a UAE-backed venture that makes use of environment friendly technology. ‘Neutral Fuels ‘operates the Middle East’s first commercial biodiesel plant.
The initiative is part of Dubai’s green schemes and is a team effort that also incorporates Dubai FDI, the foreign investment promotion arm of the Department of Economic Development.
This collaboration would see all used vegetable cooking oil from all McDonald’s UAE restaurants collected and recycled every month into Biodiesel used to run its chain’s fleet of trucks.
